Programmer's Notepad [1 and 2]

Another great example of free open source software. Win32 only. Two stable version s are available. The original Programmer's Notepad and Programmer's Notepad 2. The original Programmer's Notepad includes a hex editor

ISO Recorder

ISO Recorder is a tool (power toy) for Windows XP, 2003 and now Windows Vista, that allows (depending on the Windows version) to burn CD and DVD images (DVD support is only available on Windows Vista), copy disks, make images of the existing data CDs and DVDs and create ISO images from a content of a disk folder.

OpenSSH for Windows -> SSH is a secure way to connect to another computer system. This protocol supports a telnet alternative (usually called SSH itself), a secure file copy program (SCP) and a secure FTP program (SFTP). The SSH protocol also lets you establish secure connections with other programs or protocols through the use of port forwarding. This means that mail protocols, vnc, and other programs can be used with encryption between two machines.

TightVNC Software

TightVNC is a free remote control software package derived from the popular VNC software. With TightVNC, you can see the desktop of a remote machine and control it with your local mouse and keyboard, just like you would do it sitting in the front of that computer.

OpenProj

OpenProj is a free, open source desktop alternative to Microsoft Project. Available on Linux, Unix, Mac or Windows. It is free and open source software project with an excellent reputation. The current version is rated good for production and stable.

7 Zip

7-Zip is open source software. Most of the source code is under the GNU LGPL license. The unRAR code is under a mixed license: GNU LGPL + unRAR restrictions. Check license information here: 7-Zip license. You can use 7-Zip on any computer, including a computer in a commercial organization. You don't need to register or pay for 7-Zip. But you can make a donation to support further development of 7-Zip.
